Nickel isotopes (Ni)
Nickel isotopes are used in medical applications and industrial applications. The stable Nickel isotopes can be enriched or depleted by Urenco Stable Isotopes to any concentration. The Nickel isotopes can be supplied in various chemical forms.
Naturally occurring Nickel has five stable isotopes.
Isotope | Maximum available enrichment (atomic %) | Natural abundance (atomic %) |
---|---|---|
⁵⁸Ni | >99.9, <1 | 68.08 |
⁶⁰Ni | >99.9, <1 | 26.22 |
⁶¹Ni | >99.9, <1 | 1.14 |
⁶²Ni | >99.9, <1 | 3.63 |
⁶⁴Ni | >99.9, <1 | 0.93 |
Application of Nickel isotopes
Nickel 54 (Ni 54)
Ni-54 is used to study human absorption of Nickel.
Nickel 58 (Ni 58)
Ni-58 can be used for the production of the radioisotope Co-58. Ni-58 is used to study human absorption of Nickel.
Nickel 60 (Ni 60)
Ni-60 is used for the production of Co-57 which is used in bone densitometry, and as a gamma camera reference source. Ni-60 is an alternative for Ni-61 for the production of Cu-61. Ni-60 is also used to study human absorption of Nickel.
Nickel 61 (Ni 61)
Ni-61 can be used for the production of Cu-61, that is used in PET. Ni-61 is also used to study human absorption of Nickel.
Nickel 62 (Ni 62)
Ni-62 is used for the production of Ni-63, that can be used as an XRF source, electron capture source in gas chromatography and as a power source in microelectromechanical systems. Ni-62 is also used to study human absorption of Nickel.
Nickel 64 (Ni 64)
Ni-64 is used for the production of Cu-64, that is used in radioimmunotherapy. Ni-64 is used to study human absorption of Nickel.
