We are seeking a Physics Scientist to join our team at either our Almelo or Gronau site. In this pivotal role, you will provide design assurance for new system designs and technology applications, supporting the safe and efficient operation of our facilities.
What you’ll do:
Design Authority & Governance
- Act as delegated Design Authority for Cascade and UF6 systems, providing governance throughout design, project execution, operations, and decommissioning.
- Perform design reviews and approve designs within Process Technology, focusing on Cascade and UF6 systems.
- Provide oversight of detailed design and supplier manufacturing quality processes as requested.
- Establish and maintain Group Reference Design and safety case standards for UF6 enrichment, support systems, de-conversion, and related activities.
- Lead Post Implementation Reviews to ensure feedback on safety, license compliance, operations, and asset management.
Technical Analysis & Innovation
- Conduct scientific analysis and advanced computational modelling to support robust design development.
- Develop and apply innovative methodologies and tools to model, simulate, and optimize complex processes and systems.
- Explore and implement artificial intelligence techniques to enhance monitoring, control, and operation of process facilities.
Safety & Continuous Improvement
- Promote a proactive safety culture and analyse data to foster learning from experience.
- Ensure plant designs incorporate safety features based on best industrial practices and lessons from the nuclear sector.
- Provide expert troubleshooting and debottlenecking support to operational sites upon request.

What do you need to thrive in this role?
- Master’s Degree or PhD in Physics, Mathematics, Mechanical or Chemical Process Engineering, Nuclear Science, or Advanced Technology from an accredited institution.
- Recognised specialist with scientific knowledge and strong problem-solving skills in your area of expertise.
- Proven track record of successful design delivery involving core technology and complex process facilities.
- Specialism in physics and mathematics is highly desirable.
- Experience in leading design authority responsibilities and providing technical governance.
- Passion for innovation, including applying AI and advanced technologies in process monitoring and control.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
