Our head office is currently based in Stoke Poges, Buckinghamshire, but we will be moving to Paddington, London in May 2025.
Apprenticeships
At Urenco, we don’t pigeonhole individuals, steering clear of inflexible formulas or squeezing individuals into profiles - we value an open mind and a strong passion for shaping a better, brighter future. Our head office in Stoke Poges hosts a variety of commercial apprenticeships which change throughout the year, so please keep an eye out for future opportunities!
Apprenticeships at head office allow employees to undergo a structured learning programme through our expert training providers to achieve a qualification. Your apprenticeship will involve a combination of on-the-job training and classroom-based learning.
We offer you the opportunity to shadow and learn from a variety of business-critical teams in our head office, such as finance, IT, legal, HR and other departments. Our typical apprenticeships include business rotations and placements whilst you are studying, designed to be the perfect learning environment to complement your training. We offer study packages that either consist of day release to local college and training centres or hybrid online learning in classrooms and tutors.
These positions open throughout the year, and we would love to hear from you.
Our apprenticeship entry requirements vary based on the qualification and educational level.
The minimum we require is: Grades above 4 (or C equivalent) in Maths and English.
View our open apprenticeships following the link below. If there aren’t any that take your fancy, register your interest with us so we can let you know about future opportunities.
When you apply, we typically ask for a CV and cover letter explaining why you are interested in studying and working in that area.
If your experience and studying matches the position, we may then advance you to a call with our recruitment team and, if we think you are suited to the role, we'll arrange an interview with the hiring manager in our office.
Service Analyst
I joined Urenco three years ago as a Service Analyst, working within Group IT in the Service Delivery function. Over the last three years, alongside my role, I completed a Level 6 Digital Technology Solutions - Business Analyst Apprenticeship at the University of West London, which is equivalent to a BSc Honours.
Recently, I transitioned into a new promoted role as a Lead Analyst on a product called ServiceNow, an industry leading workflow and service management tool. This new role is unlimited in potential, as I now work across a matrix organisation with other functions to improve and automate business processes and enhance user experience. I recently completed a professional certification as a Certified ServiceNow Administrator.
Throughout my time at Urenco, I have had excellent exposure to the overall operation of the nuclear industry, and how IT acts as an essential function within such a secure environment. Working in the nuclear industry doesn’t just mean working at our facilities, it can also be working within critical functions such as IT to contribute to advances in technological innovation and contribute to global sustainability efforts.
My advice for anyone in their early career would be to consider enrolling in a degree apprenticeship instead of going to university. The leverage and skillset which an apprenticeship gives you is paramount, plus you finish the three years of study with a Bachelor’s degree and a wealth of experience in the workplace.
Assistant Financial Officer, CIMA L7 Apprenticeship
I was contacted by a recruiter about an apprenticeship vacancy that Urenco was looking to fill. At that time, I had completed my AAT L4 studies and was looking to gain some practical experience, and because I had deferred some years at university due to not meeting the student finance eligibility criteria, I thought it was too good an opportunity to pass up!
I got to learn about the company and its history during this time and I was drawn in by the idea that I could play a role in contributing positively to the environment through Urenco. When I was interviewed, I got the chance to meet my now colleagues who I felt were very welcoming and friendly, and I knew at that moment I was going to fit right in.
I learnt a lot during the course of my apprenticeship – looking back from when I started with very minimal skills and no experience in the corporate world, I can see how much I have gained. I have been able to develop my communication skills which helped me build good relationships with my peers and other stakeholders.
I also got the opportunity to be seconded to a different department which helped me develop some really good insight on the business and how it operates. It really is an interesting industry.
I recently completed my apprenticeship and I am looking forward to seeing how much more value I can bring to Urenco.
