Urenco is funding people to train as mechanics in Malawi, via Pump Aid, so they can construct and maintain around 800 community and irrigation wells and pumps.
This enables them to ensure their communities receive access to clean water, as breakages at boreholes have been a common problem.
Our partnership funding, which comes as part of our sustainability strategy to make a difference to local and global communities, also goes towards child friendly toilets, hand washing stations and hygiene education, to reduce the risk of water-borne disease in Malawi.
Separately, Pump Aid recently made it as a finalist at the 2022 UK Charity Awards, held in London on 16 June. This is the longest-running and most prestigious awards scheme in the charity sector.
