Urenco publishes first digital sustainability report on corporate website

31 March 2017 Global

Urenco has today published its annual sustainability report for the year ending 31 December 2016.

The report provides Urenco's stakeholders with a balanced and accurate representation of Urenco’s business in regards to its economic, environmental and social impacts.

Centred on six core focus areas including: Health & Safety, Safeguards and Security, Environmental impact, Supplier of choice, Employer of choice, Community engagement and Asset integrity, the sustainability report highlights Urenco’s key achievements over the last year in its material areas and non-financial KPI’s. It also includes current and future challenges and how the business is adapting to ensure the long-term sustainability of the company.

The report has once again been prepared in line with the Global Reporting Initiatives (GRI) G4 Core reporting requirements. By reporting to this internationally recognised framework, Urenco demonstrates its commitment to following best practice and transparent communications.

Miriam Maes, member of the Urenco Ltd. Board and Chair of its Sustainability Committee said:

‘‘Sustainability to Urenco means creating the right conditions now to support the delivery of our long term strategy without compromising the environment in which we operate.

“We report in accordance to the GRI standards in order to guide our continual improvement in this area and support our commitment to open and transparent communication of Urenco's performance.

“Our sustainability programme is built around six key areas of focus which ensures we report on the most relevant topics to our business and those of specific interest to our stakeholders.

“As Chair of the Sustainability Committee, I am pleased with the progress the organisation has made to embed sustainable practices into day to day operations.’’
