Pandemic Solidifies UUSA’s Number One Priority of Safety

30 March 2021

Dear Community Members,

After an unprecedented and challenging year, we are eager to share Urenco USA’s (UUSA) accomplishments for 2020 and provide you with an update of our on-site activities and community involvement. As safety is our number one priority, maintaining the safety of our personnel and operations, especially in light of the Covid-19 situation, was our focus.

During 2020, the Permian Basin experienced a significant spike in Covid-19 cases and UUSA took swift proactive measures on our site to protect our personnel and prevent the spread of the virus. These precautions included increased testing, face coverings, physical distancing, and minimizing the number of people coming to our facility to prevent transmission of the virus on-site. During the height of the pandemic, several individuals on our management team stepped up to not only lead these safety efforts at UUSA, but keep Covid-19 at bay across the global company.

Not only were we able to keep our business commitments during 2020, we were also able to keep our commitments to our community. UUSA’s regulatory performance was outstanding during 2020 and we received very high marks from the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC). Despite challenges associated with Covid-19, we successfully pivoted to a remote review process. In addition, we were able to ensure our plant continued operating to meet our customers’ needs, and we are proud to say that we did not miss a customer shipment during 2020. UUSA also found innovative ways to safely support our community during the past year. Our annual United Way Campaign raised our largest donation to date, bringing our total donation since 2008 to over $1.9 million. We were also able to hold our 12th Annual 9/11 Day of Service, completing projects in the communities of Eunice, Hobbs and Andrews. In addition, we were still able to help CASA of Lea County and the Humane Society with their annual fundraisers despite the cancellation of the Lea County Fair and Rodeo.

In 2021, we look forward to continuing our focus on Safety, People, and Sustainability and furthering our innovation skills to develop products to meet our customers’ needs. Our greatest asset is our people and we are committed to serving this community. We will continue to be a strong industry and community partner for years to come.

Respectfully,

The UUSA Team
