Positive nuclear new build discussions at event hosted by Urenco UK

14 November 2019

Urenco UK was delighted to host 100 guests from more than 80 organisations who form the NIA New Build Group.

The event last week included presentations from Chris Lloyd, Urenco UK’s Head of Engineering and Projects; and Michael Bryant and Magnus Mori from Urenco’s Commercial team, who highlighted Urenco’s ability to fuel all nuclear new builds, including advanced nuclear technologies.

Other speakers included Tom Greatrex, NIA Chief Executive, and there were presentations from Horizon Nuclear Power, CGN, EDF and Westinghouse.

Chris White, Head of Government Affairs at Urenco, said: “Urenco is strongly committed to nuclear new build in the UK and it was a pleasure to offer a location to allow other key organisations involved in this important activity to come together and make further progress.

“Nuclear energy is crucial for the UK to meet decarbonisation challenges and realise climate change goals. We very much need new reactor development to replenish the existing aging fleet. Urenco looks forward to continuing to play our part in supporting this work and providing sustainable energy for the country.”
