The New year started with vocal fireworks in the Theaterhotel in Almelo. On 9 January Urenco Nederland and the Theaterhotel treated the inhabitants of Almelo to a concert by the renowned regional 'Orchestra of the East'. After a short welcome speech by Ad Louter, the concert started with a leading role for the Israeli soprano Hila Fahima. She sang a series of spectacular arias from famous Italian and French operas and the people of Almelo who had managed to obtain a free ticket, listened breathlessly. Hila Fahima performed as a moving, compelling and crushing virtuoso. She made her acclaimed debut at the prestigious Vienna State Opera in 2015. The young German conductor Thomas Jung conducted the orchestra. He is a regular guest at the Covent Garden Opera in London and is known for his love of opera. The reactions to the concert were very positive.
The concert was recorded by a local radio station: http://aafm.nl/nieuwjaarsconcert/
