Communications, PR and Social Impact Intern
Undergoing many different interviews processes I became familiar with many companies. So why Urenco? An internship is such a short period of time which shifted my focus on locating a healthy working environment which fosters innovation and growth. With Urenco leading the way for sustainability and innovation it was a no brainer for me, and after being at the company for nearly a year I can say with confidence that Urenco lives up to its values, evidently striving to better itself internally and externally annually.
Currently I am interning in communications and I like to think I take up a very supportive role within the team. My work focuses on internal communications, aiding in providing content, while also extending externally as I travel to company events and help coordinate our social impact programme. My favourite line of work has to be creating content for others as it requires a lot of understanding and creativity in order to capture audiences effectively.
After nearly completing my internship at Urenco my advice would be to not get tunnel visioned early on, with regards to meeting expectations and completing some kind of life changing transformation that makes you competent. My original thought process led me to believe that the world of work would be harsh and I would struggle to keep up. However, I now know that learning process will take place naturally, but effectively if the team work in conjunction to help support one another, something I believe my team excels at I am proud to say. The main source of personal growth for me derives from my time networking within Urenco. With many experienced employees giving me a better understanding of the working world. An internship also creates some space between you and the academic world for the first time in a while. This actually helped me transform into a more proactive and social individual as I have come to terms with what I want to achieve in my youth and the importance networking offers to one’s development.
