Urenco supports Nuclear Week in Parliament

13 September 2021

This week Urenco is supporting Nuclear Week in Parliament, a series of nuclear-related events that aim to educate and debate on why nuclear power is essential for achieving the UK’s greenhouse gas emissions net zero target by 2050.

Urenco’s CEO, Boris Schucht, will be speaking at the House of Commons welcome reception today, alongside Trudy Harrison MP and representatives from EDF and the Nuclear Industry Association. The talks will examine the vital role that nuclear energy plays now, and will play in the future, in reducing carbon emissions.

Former apprentices from Urenco and graduates from U-Battery will attend a Skills and Apprenticeship Fair on Tuesday 14 September, where they will engage directly with parliamentarians and network with other professionals.

Finishing up the week will be the Best of British Nuclear Reception on Wednesday 15 September. Urenco employees will join the event that focuses on the British nuclear industry, celebrating the economic and social benefits that the industry brings, and looking ahead to nuclear’s contribution to driving exports and building back better.
