This week Urenco is holding its Strategy Forum through which representatives from across the business come together to continue to progress the organisation’s refreshed strategy.

We have updated our strategy to reflect our view of the future and what we need to achieve as a business, to continue to offer high-quality products and services for our customers and ensure the sustainability of our part of the nuclear fuel cycle, including making a valuable commitment to net zero goals.

It comprises five building blocks:

  • Creating a winning team
  • Maintaining our strong customer base
  • Defending and innovating our core business operations
  • Shaping and utilising regulatory frameworks
  • Promoting organic growth

A key block is ‘Creating a Winning Team’. Our people are the foundation of our strategy, and the aim is to ensure we have a winning team, which is being facilitated through a long-term culture programme. We are working towards ensuring our culture is fully inclusive – an environment where all voices are heard, and diversity can thrive – which will enable us to make positive progress on delivering on our priorities.

To ensure growth in our business, we are developing new relationships and signing new contracts to maintain our global customer base. We are confident that our recent investment in increased capacity for our Stable Isotopes business for medical, industrial and research applications, will serve the market well and deliver solid returns. We are continuing to explore several possible new business ventures, including developing our capabilities in nuclear stewardship.

We are also working towards providing support to our customers to fuel all nuclear new builds, including the next generation of reactors. Current energy challenges are dominated by the climate crisis and the need to decarbonise our economies. Nuclear is the second largest source of clean energy used today and we believe it can and should play an important role in the clean energy transition.

Katie Mille, Urenco Head of Strategy and Corporate Development, said: “Urenco is committed to maintaining our position as a trusted global industry leader, contributing to a sustainable net zero carbon future, operating safely and forming partnerships to deliver measurable positive impacts, and being an organisation in which every employee feels informed, included and inspired. Our refreshed strategy is the key to delivering these ambitions.”
