Read it hereEarlier in the year, Urenco contributed to a report delivered by Deloitte that focused on business action to contribute to the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 13: Climate action. The report, called Goal 13 Impact Platform, demonstrates companies’ dedication to taking action on the climate crisis and emphasises the importance of adapting businesses to be more sustainable.
Through the Goal 13 Impact Platform report, Urenco forms part of a movement of companies paving the way for other businesses to take real and significant action on the climate emergency.
Urenco was among over 400 different companies that told their climate action stories in the report, which provided us the opportunity to discuss our sustainability strategy and help inspire other businesses to take climate action. A key part of our contribution was highlighting the need for a credible net zero strategy, to attract and retain the best talent and meet the expectations of other external stakeholders.
Urenco is committed to making valuable contributions to key SDGs, especially SDG 7: Clean Energy and SDG 13: Climate Action. As part of the nuclear fuel cycle, we facilitate the production of low carbon energy, playing a significant role in avoiding carbon emissions and helping keep global warming to below 1.5 degrees Celsius.
Our own dedication to climate action is demonstrated by being a signatory to The Climate Pledge, where we have joined over 200 companies in committing to reach net zero emissions by 2040.
