BMUB report published

16 November 2017 Urenco Deutschland News

The German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear  (BMUB) has published a report on the “Assessment of the legal preconditions under which it would be possible to decommission uranium enrichment and nuclear fuel production in Germany”. It has been noted by Urenco and we are analysing it internally.

There is no new policy on this subject, and there cannot be until some time after a new German Government is formed. In the interim, we will continue to communicate with relevant parties.

An end to uranium enrichment does not appear among the legal resolutions for Germany’s phase-out of nuclear energy and Urenco's activities in Gronau are based on a permanent operating licence. Regular safety checks confirm that the uranium enrichment plant in Gronau (UAG) complies with the highest safety and quality standards.
