Urenco Deutschland helps to save local jobs

Urenco Deutschland (UD) hat dazu beigetragen, die Arbeitsplätze bei der Ochtruper Firma Hewing nach einem Auftragseinbruch zu retten.
Der Betriebsrat von Hewing setzte sich für den Erhalt der Arbeitsplätze ein und suchte auch den Kontakt zu anderen Arbeitgebern in der Region um Mitarbeiter zu beschäftigen und wurde dafür kürzlich mit dem Deutschen Betriebsräte-Preis ausgezeichnet. Für sowohl Hewing als auch Urenco ein Glücksfall, weil bei der UD in Gronau temporär ein erhöhter Personalbedarf entstanden war. UD beschäftigte vorübergehend vier Hewing-Mitarbeiter.
Kay Bock, Logistikleiter bei UD, sagte: „Wir haben die vier Mitarbeiter aufgrund der gestiegenen Logistikprozesse im letzten Jahr gut einsetzen können. Dieses war eine Win-Win-Situation für beide Seiten.“

Urenco Deutschland (UD) helped to save jobs at Ochtrup pipe manufacturer, Hewing, after a slump in orders.
Hewing’s Works Council worked to preserve the jobs, including reaching out to other local employers such as Urenco’s enrichment site in Gronau, and has recently received the German Works Council Prize in recognition of what they achieved. UD temporarily employed four Hewing employees.
Kay Bock, Logistics Manager at UD, said: “Due to increased logistics processes over the past year, we were glad that Hewing could help us out and the four employees were welcome in our team. We really benefitted from the additional temporary staff who fitted well into the team.
“We congratulate Hewing for their successful and creative operations and project to keep the workforce employed and their Works Council specifically for this award. We are glad that both companies have profited from this win-win-situation and to have found a good partner in Hewing.”
