North West England’s nuclear cluster promotes nuclear and its importance to the UK economy

09 July 2020

Urenco welcomes North West Nuclear Arc’s latest summary of how investment in new nuclear in this UK region has the power to tackle climate change and help achieve the UK Government’s ambition of achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2050 and recommendations outlined in the Energy Systems Catapult report, ‘Nuclear for Net Zero’.

The summary lists a number of transformative investments in North West England and Wales.  It includes the investment made by Urenco at its site at Capenhurst, Chester in complementary nuclear stewardship services and tails management and its drive to develop, alongside its consortium partners, a small/advanced nuclear reactor, U-Battery.

North West Nuclear Arc is a unique nuclear cluster – spanning the North of England and North Wales and representing the nuclear industry and the scientific and academic community, with interests in helping to develop the sector and government.
