Urenco UK celebrates 800 days since a lost time accident

22 October 2014

Urenco UK (UUK) has reached the milestone of 800 days since the last Lost Time Accident, which occurred on 10 July 2012. To mark this period of work without a significant injury to a UUK employee or contractor, the company has made a donation to the following three charities that are part of the Fair and Just Culture blue token system which recognises good safety behaviours at the organisation. Over the last fifteen months 762 tokens have been collected for the Hospice of the Good Shepherd, 683 tokens for Stik ‘n’ Step and 647 tokens for the Northwest Air Ambulance. These have been converted into the same value in pounds and donated to the charities.

Urenco UK MD Simon Bowen commented:

“It is important to reflect on our good performance but to also ensure that we are not complacent and continue to focus on improving our safety performance. I would therefore request that you continue to recognise good safety behaviours and ensure that safety continues to be your main priority. We must ensure that safety comes first.”
