Urenco celebrates the launch of new maritime vessel

08 July 2026 Global

We were asked to be the 'Godmother' of the MV CLI Pride II at its christening ceremony.

Urenco was honoured to be at the launch of the new vessel MV CLI Pride II, which will be utilised for our transatlantic shipments from November 2026.

The vessel was built by company, Royal Bodewes who started the project in October 2025, and the christening ceremony took place on July 3, 2026 in the Netherlands.

As part of the ceremony, the owners CLI AG asked Urenco to be the ‘Godmother’ of the vessel.

This role was performed by our Chief People and Culture Officer, Marielle Smit, who officially named the vessel and wished her safe voyages and success.

Marielle said:  “What an honour it is to be the Godmother of this fantastic ship.

“She and all who work with her will be in my heart for as long as she sails.”

Pride II’s predecessor vessel had been Pride I, which Urenco had also utilised as part of its transportation plans.

The new vessel will be faster with greater efficiency, reduced carbon emissions and fitted with a Fletner rotor sail.  There is also potential to further reduce carbon emissions with biofuels in the future.
