The importance of career development, supply chains and maintaining world-class safety was highlighted by Urenco during the International Atomic Energy Agency's (IAEA) International Ministerial Conference on Nuclear Power.
The event brought together policymakers, industry leaders and organisations to discuss the role of nuclear energy in meeting growing global demand for secure, reliable and low-carbon electricity.
Urenco CEO Boris Schucht took part on a "Creating Opportunities" panel, highlighting the importance of stable policy frameworks to support long-term investment in the nuclear sector.
However, he also emphasised the importance of maintaining safe and reliable operations, especially as nuclear expands worldwide, and the importance of not taking this for granted.
Meanwhile, speaking on an "Empowering People" panel, Urenco's Vice President, Marketing and Sales, Michael Bryant highlighted the importance of developing the next generation of nuclear professionals.
He emphasised the need to inspire young people earlier, broaden pathways into the sector and develop their skills and leadership capabilities.
Michael also noted that building a strong talent pipeline will help create meaningful careers while supporting the workforce needed to contribute to energy security and a net zero future.
The conference took place in Incheon, Republic of Korea from 27-29 October.
