Urenco Isotopes launches Blaise Pascal installation to expand its critical supply

14 May 2025 Global News

This expansion comes at a crucial time as the global shortage of critical isotopes continues to impact various sectors.

Urenco Isotopes is proud to announce the successful commissioning of its newest isotope enrichment installation, Blaise Pascal, dedicated to the production of germanium, xenon, selenium, and silicon.

This expansion comes at a crucial time as the global shortage of critical isotopes continues to impact various sectors, including medicine, technology, and industry. The Blaise Pascal installation represents a significant step forward in addressing these shortages and enhancing Urenco’s capacity to deliver high-quality isotope products.

The installation strengthens Urenco’s position as a trusted provider of advanced isotope products, supporting a broad spectrum of applications including life-saving medical treatments, cutting-edge semiconductor technologies, and clean energy innovation.

It also enables Urenco to better serve its customers and partners across industries that rely on stable isotopes. With a track record of delivering high-quality isotopes and a growing role in enabling future-focused industries, Urenco Isotopes remains at the forefront of isotope innovation.

Head of Isotopes, Linda Ashton, said:

"The launch of the Blaise Pascal installation marks a significant milestone for Urenco Isotopes.

"In a time when the global demand for critical isotopes is at an all-time high, we are proud to contribute to support the continued production and strengthen the supply chain, increasing supply security with our state-of-the-art facility.

"This development not only reinforces our commitment to innovation and excellence but also ensures that we continue to support vital industries and applications worldwide."
