Minister for Climate and Energy Rob Jetten visited Urenco Nederland (UNL) in Almelo on Monday afternoon, June 13.
The Minister joined UNL Managing Director Ad Louter on a guided tour of the Urenco uranium enrichment plant. Urenco's enriched uranium is used by nuclear power plants all over the world to generate low-carbon energy.
Next, Mr Jetten visited the recycling centre, where process components are overhauled and cleaned for reuse. During the tour, Ad Louter updated the minister on recent market developments.
Later on, the Minister spoke to directors of companies that are part of the industry association Nuclear Netherlands. This concerned the nuclear knowledge infrastructure and the objective in the Coalition Agreement to build two new nuclear power stations in the Netherlands.
