Urenco is today hosting its fifth annual Richie Lecture at the Science Museum inside Wonderlab: The Equinor Gallery.
Entitled The Story of Electricity, the event includes an interactive lecture from science presenter and broadcaster, Dr Marty Jopson, best known for his work on the BBC’s The One Show. Focussing on the scientific discoveries behind electricity, students will learn how electricity works and the important role it plays in our day to day lives.
The event will also give students the opportunity to explore the Urenco sponsored Wonderlab, which features more than 50 immersive exhibits, shows and demonstrations.
With 120 secondary school students in attendance from schools across London, the Richie Lecture is designed to engage and enthuse young people about STEM (science, technology engineering and maths) subjects, linking into real life examples of how these subjects have helped change the world.
Dr Stephen Billingham, Chairman at Urenco, comments:
“The annual Richie Lecture forms a key part of Urenco’s Richie education programme, which has so far reached nearly a quarter of a million young people globally. Through Richie, Urenco is committed to nurturing an interest in STEM subjects and raising awareness of the vast array of opportunities available to students. We’re delighted to have Dr Marty Jopson here today as our guest speaker to support us in achieving this.”
