Urenco announced as Major Sponsor of Science Museum’s new interactive gallery

15 June 2016 Global News

The Science Museum today announced Urenco as the Major Sponsor of Wonderlab: The Statoil Gallery, its most ambitious interactive gallery. Opening on 12 October 2016, Wonderlab: The Statoil Gallery will feature interactive exhibits, artworks, live demonstrations and immersive experiences.

The new gallery will be 60% larger than the Museum’s previous interactive gallery Launchpad, allowing the Museum to set ambitious targets to double to 200,000 the number of young people visiting for free on a school trip within three years of opening.

Urenco, who is a Major Sponsor of the gallery, are focussing their support in two key areas on gallery; the Forces zone, which explores the physics of forces and motion through ten interactive exhibits, and the show space which will provide live demonstrations of science related experiments to around 120 visitors at a time, performed by the Museum’s talented team of science communicators, known as Explainers.

Jayne Hallett, Director of Corporate Communications at Urenco said:

‘’Our collaboration with the Science Museum and in particular this new gallery is the perfect complement to our existing Richie education programme, which has been successfully operating since 2007. This partnership reinforces our ethos of nurturing an interest in science, engineering, technology and maths (STEM) subjects to inspire the energy leaders of the future. We look forward to the launch of the gallery in October.’’

Ian Blatchford, Science Museum Group Director said:

‘’Ensuring our visitors understand the science that shapes our lives and inspiring the next generation of scientists, technologists, engineers and mathematicians are at the heart of our mission. Wonderlab: The Statoil Gallery embodies that core purpose, providing the spark of curiosity for the young people of today to wonder the world better.’’
