About Richie
In 2006, URENCO launched its Richie Enrichment Science Workshops Programme. The aim was to help children in local communities understand the importance of nuclear energy for the future of sustainable energy production, and give them a fun and interactive science lesson, hosted by Richie, in the process.
Since the launch of the initiative five years ago, Richie Enrichment Science Workshops have been rolled out to over 15,000 pupils. Targeted at 9-10 year olds, the programmes are designed to support the national curriculum in each of our countries of operation and are often individually tailored to suit the specific needs of each school.
As URENCO’s Youth Science Ambassador, it’s Richie Enrichment’s business to get children excited about science and to help provide an insight into the world of nuclear energy and the production of electricity. Richie’s DVD, website and interactive learning site are all designed to explain the complicated process of nuclear power in everyday language. And, although the character was designed with children in mind, plenty of adults have benefited from his simple descriptions too!
