European Nuclear Energy Leadership Academy
21 July 2009
Nuclear energy companies AREVA, EnBW, URENCO, NOK, Vattenfall and E.ON have collectively agreed to establish a ‘European Nuclear Energy Leadership Academy’ to provide theoretical and practical-based nuclear management education.
In the wake of Europe’s nuclear energy renaissance, the purpose of the Academy is to train post-graduates and high potential employees with different backgrounds to become leaders in European nuclear corporations and institutions. The Academy will offer a comprehensive nuclear management program based on a theoretical and practical approach focusing on specific European requirements and specifications (economics, politics, technology, legislation, safety standards, certifications…).
The Academy will bring together members of the international nuclear community, including employers, prospective employees as well as political and social opinion leaders. It will endeavour to facilitate a dialogue with industrial and non-industrial stakeholders while improving their mutual awareness and understanding of nuclear energy.
Further progress will now be made on the establishment of a legally-binding Multi-Party Agreement which will focus on the essential strategic, legal and financial aspects of the project.

Notes to editor:
URENCO is an independent, global energy and technology group, operating in a pivotal area of the nuclear fuel supply chain which ends with the sustainable generation of electricity for consumers around the world. Production is from plants in United Kingdom, the Netherlands and Germany utilising URENCO’s own centrifuge technology. A fourth URENCO enrichment plant is currently under construction in New Mexico, USA which will be ready for operation by the end of 2009. Focus is on providing safe, cost effective and reliable uranium enrichment services for civil power generation within a framework of environmental, social and corporate responsibility. Our goal is to further increase worldwide market share and to become the leading supplier in the extended global enrichment market.
