Working for URENCO
Our people are at the heart of our business. Read about our current employees and their experiences with URENCO, as well as the activities taking place within the organisation to encourage young students into the professional world of science and engineering.
Capenhurst
At the URENCO UK Capenhurst site, Maintenance Engineer Ben Johnson participates in the Engineering Education Scheme (England). The scheme is an Engineering Development Trust (EDT) Programme which links teams of four Year 12 students (aged 17-18) and their teacher with local companies to work on real
scientific, engineering and technological problems.
Ben commented, “As part of my commitment to the Science and Engineering Ambassador Scheme, I’ve been mentoring students from various local schools for the past couple of years. The scheme aims to encourage students into a career in engineering, using the mentor as an advocate for the profession. A lot of effort is required from the teacher, students and mentor, attending meetings and advising on work and project management. I’ve received high praise from the students I mentored last year, which makes taking part really rewarding.”
Gronau
The HR team at Gronau have been actively seeking to attract some of Germany’s finest young engineers to the benefits of a career in the nuclear industry and employment with URENCO. They recently attended a specialist recruitment event in Osnabrueck, Germany which has a well-known technical college. During the event the team met with over 40 potential candidates and also provided many more with background on URENCO and the nuclear industry.
Uwe Sommerfeld, Head of HR, at Gronau commented “This forum allows us to successfully meet the expectations of candidates and generate interest in URENCO.”
