This is the second international conference that URENCO has organised (the UF6 seminar 2007 in Almelo being the first) and indicates the quality and calibre of event that URENCO hosts.
Peter Friend, URENCO Head of Security and Safeguards, who instigated the event taking place and co-ordinated the conference alongside the Capenhurst and Marlow Communications teams, commented:
“The conference was a huge success! Our aim was to discuss and influence the future of safeguards in gas centrifuge enrichment plants. We certainly achieved that aim – in spades.
"All of the key players (in the field of safeguards) from across the world attended – operators of enrichment plants in eight countries, and representatives of several governments, international inspection agencies and research organisations. The quality of debate was high, and the outcome was general agreement of a wide variety of issues, and identification of several promising ideas to be studied further.”
