Workshops in the UK & US
The theme of the workshop is inspired by the process URENCO uses in enriching uranium, namely sorting, which fits with the national curriculum in the UK and the US. Using interactive experiments, the workshops look at the process of ‘sorting’, including sieving, separation, pH indicating, chromatography and spinning.
At each stage of the workshop, the children have the opportunity for hands-on participation. The relevance of these processes to URENCO is that we use centrifugal spinning to separate uranium. This is referred to during the workshop, though the emphasis is on a broader look at the topic of sorting.
The workshops have been a great success at schools around Chester and Marlow in the UK and in New Mexico in the US.
