Capacity milestone in Almelo

On 31 March 2009 the URENCO enrichment site in Almelo reached the milestone of 4 million SW/a capacity when the 6th cascade of SP5 hall 5 came online. URENCO, one of the four major uranium enrichment suppliers, is a truly global supplier, and has contracts with over 50 utilities in 17 countries. With a world market share of around 25% in 2008, URENCO has substantial business in the three main geographical markets - Europe, North America and East Asia.

Uranium hexafluoride arrives at the National Enrichment Facility

On 15 February 2009, LES, URENCO'S wholly owned subsidiary, achieved a new milestone at the National Enrichment Facility. The Nuclear Regulatory Commission granted authorisation permitting receipt of the first shipment of uranium hexafluoride to the site. The material will enable further quality control testing to take place prior to full installation of cascades into the centrifuge assembly building.
